Ok, so if you follow us on Facebook you may remember when I posted about forgetting a password. Well, it was to this lovely activity!!
Click to Download
I created this last year as a fun little giveaway for following us and I was hoping to update it by making it easier to get into and use in general. Unfortunately, we know that didn’t happen. So, to help remedy the situation here are some pictures about what to do.
Once you download the power point presentation to your computer, go ahead and open it. It will look like this:
You see that little pop up, well here is a closer look at it.
You don’t have to worry about a password to access it. All you have to do is click on “Read Only.”
Then you’re IN!!! Just view as a slide show and your kiddo is good to go to explore this Click & Learn Activity. If you’d like a more in depth “how to” of the activity, check out the video tutorial from our Facebook Page below.
Last year we wrote a weekly devotional based on our theme. We did our best to pick a memory verse that was reasonable for little learners, but also applicable to what we were learning. This year we will be revisiting those verses, but in addition to the devotional we will be adding some supplemental activities to help reinforce the memorization of scripture. Here are some things for this weeks verse, Psalm 139:14.
You can download all of the printables, including the devotional here. If you would like to download individual files, click on the image below. Memory Verse Card: Use this card daily during your calendar time to work on memorization. Memory Verse Puzzle and Cutting Practice: This puzzle fits together to form this weeks memory verse. Memory Verse Color Order and Cutting Practice: Using color order arrange the verse. Memory Verse Writing Practice: With this you can practice parts of the whole verse, or just work on starting a single letter. In this weeks case you’ll be working on the letter I. (I have to give Carisa over at 1+1+1=1 a shout out because some of her writing printables gave me the concept for the I one)
You may also re-visit this verses devotional from last year.
In addition, while all verses won’t have a song that fits so well, this one does. You can visit Seeds Family Worship and listen to Psalm 139:14 to music! Its on The Power of Encouragement and is song number 5!
Every now and then we try some new artsy thing. Sometimes a crafty thing. This week we did some of both. Now we wouldn’t normally do two of these in a week. I ain’t supermom. That being said, we had some extra time because of our mini break last week.
Craft 1: Body Poster
For this you will need:
One large piece of craft paper
Markers or Crayons
Some patience, and a caffiene free child :)
Directions:
Lay the paper flat out on the floor.
Let your child lay on the paper, and using a dark colored crayon, trace their whole body. E really got a kick out of this, and she was willing to stay still just to see the end product. Now, because I wanted to get a pretty accurate tracing, I did let E be traced in her undies (hence why no pics of that part). I don’t want to give you mommies TMI, but you need to know the process!
After tracing, draw some clothes on your body, and let you kiddo color away. I drew some hair on E’s, and I drew a face. Then we went part by part and labeled and identified each body part.
Craft 2: Body Puzzle
You will need:
11 pieces of construction paper (2 pieces each of 4 different colors, and 1 piece of a 5th color)
A marker or crayons
Some patience, again :)
Directions:
Let your child lay down on the floor and position 2 pieces of the paper under the trunk of your child’s body. I laid the paper sideways and needed 2 pieces to cover the length of E’s torso. Trace the body on the paper.
Repeat the process for each of your child’s arms and legs, using a different color for each part.
Lastly, use a piece of paper to trace your kiddo’s head.
Cut out each of the body parts, and if two pieces of paper were used for a part attach them accordingly.
Using the paper parts, let your child put together their puzzle!
As an extension of this activity, I drew a heart, as set of lungs and a stomach. I let E determine where they went!
Just as a side note, I found this puzzle to be EXTREMELY creepy when finished. Seriously, I had to get rid of it because it just weirded me out. I don’t know if you all will have the same reaction, but hey, its an idea you can try!
This week we will be revisiting our My Body unit and updating it! On Friday we will be posting some new printables and offering a single download for the entire unit, including our previous activities! Here are a couple more book offerings for you!
My Body, Your Body is a fun book that will involve your kiddo with simple commands and fun facts. Using the book your child will explore their own bodies defining characteristics. You’ll look in a mirror for your eye color, stick out your tongue, touch your teeth, and other fun things! In the back of the book there are other fun ideas to continue the learning even after you’ve read the last page. Just a fair warning though…the book is a big fave at our house and is requested frequently. Its involved, and shouldn’t be reserved for bedtime!
Inside Your Outside was a random find at our library. Using the stylistic rhyming of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat takes us on a tour of our bodies and their insides. The meter of the text makes learning facts about the body fun and entertaining for your kids, and the illustrations are Seussian and eye catching. It is a great way to introduce your kiddos to the miracle that is their little body.
If you have any favorites be sure and let us know!
Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think. We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!
Just click the image above to download a single zip file from Google Drive. (Can’t unzip it. Try Hamster Free Zip Archiver approved by Amber’s husband. Remember to download carefully.) You will need to be able to view pop-ups to download the unit, as it will appear in a pop up window from our site!
Below is a list with our full lesson plans.
Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans. (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)
Memory Verse:This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time. You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations. Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.
Special Note: We are so excited to introduce some new activities this week, as well as some twists to a few old ones. Let us know what you think.
Day 1: Beginning Sound Puzzles- A New Activity! Helps your child to focus in on the beginning letter sounds he/she hears.
Count & Color: Feelings- Here’s a twist to our Roll & Color/Color by Number. This activity will help your child count whole numbers up to 6 and reinforce colors.
Feelings Sort- Label the top of a piece of construction paper with a feeling word– afraid, happy, mad & sad. You’ll need 4 pages. (Ex: orange for afraid, yellow for happy, red for mad and blue for sad) Cut out as many images from this packet as you choose. Have your child sort the pictures onto the right sheet of paper and then glue it on. You can also find pictures in old magazines or newspapers too.
Day 2: Beginning Writing: Feelings- This activity will help build fine motor skills as your child practices tracing.
Spin & Graph: Feelings- Here’s a twist to our roll and graph. We used spinners a lot in the 3rd grade classroom and since we weren’t working on 6 feelings, I figured it was time to bring in the old reliable spinner.
This activity will introduce your child to data collection and interpretation. Once you’ve completed the graph (first item to # of choice), make sure to ask simple questions. Such as, “Which color is taller? What item is that? Which color is shorter? Which item is that? How many times did we give the (item) a sticker?” Make sure to show them how to use the graph, instead of just counting the stickers.
Day 3: Look, See, Spell: Feeling Words- Another new activity. This activity was adapted from Fountas and Pinnell, a phonics program that I used in the classroom. The original activity designed for Ks was to build(spell) the word and then write it. Our kiddos weren’t ready for writing, so we decided to set it up as you see below.
Shape Faces- This activity will reinforce shape recognition.
Sesame Street Feelings Playlist- The following playlists will be a fun way to reinforce all the feeling words that have been discussed this week.

This week we are learning all about Feelings! We are focusing on happy, sad, afraid and mad.
For our family night, we decided to make “emotional” pizzas. Unfortunately, the boy is so used to getting something sweet that he kept saying, “After I eat this I’m going to get a special treat.” He didn’t believe us when we responded, “This is your special treat.”
Here is what you’ll need:
pre-made individual pizza crust
pizza sauce
cheese
toppings of choice
Below are the steps to make these “Emotional” pizzas. Now I realize that you probably don’t need me to break it down for you, but I like sharing all the pictures! So, just humor me.
Step 1:
Step 2:
Take your individual crust and spread some pizza sauce on it.
Add some cheese.
Step 3:
Step 4:
Add the toppings of your choice and lay it out to look like a face.
Go ahead and change the faces to find the one you like the best.
Step 5:
Bake as directed. Then EAT and ENJOY!
To end the night watch a movie. We watched Ruby’s Studio: The Feelings Show from The Mother Company. If you have any other movie suggestions feel free to share in the comments.
Movie Ideas:
Use your discretion on what is appropriate for your child. This movie is merely a suggestion and you should read and consider reviews of these movies before watching them.
Be sure and check Netflix if you have an instant streaming option.
