Front PageClick to Download
I created this last year as a fun little giveaway for following us and I was hoping to update it by making it easier to get into and use in general.  Unfortunately, we know that didn’t happen.  So, to help remedy the situation here are some pictures about what to do.

Once you download the power point presentation to your computer, go ahead and open it.  It will look like this:

Slide 1- Click & Learn My Body Instructions
You see that little pop up, well here is a closer look at it.

Slide 3- Click & Learn My Body Instructions

You don’t have to worry about a password to access it.  All you have to do is click on “Read Only.”

Then you’re IN!!!  Just view as a slide show and your kiddo is good to go to explore this Click & Learn Activity.  If you’d like a more in depth “how to” of the activity, check out the video tutorial from our Facebook Page below.

Psalm 139:14-Memory Verse

Last year we wrote a weekly devotional based on our theme.  We did our best to pick a memory verse that was reasonable for little learners, but also applicable to what we were learning.  This year we will be revisiting those verses, but in addition to the devotional we will be adding some supplemental activities to help reinforce the memorization of scripture.  Here are some things for this weeks verse, Psalm 139:14.
You can download all of the printables, including the devotional here.  If you would like to download individual files, click on the image below.
Memory Verse Card: Use this card daily during your calendar time to work on memorization.

Memory Verse Puzzle and Cutting Practice:  This puzzle fits together to form this weeks memory verse.
image
Memory Verse Color Order and Cutting Practice: Using color order arrange the verse.
image
Memory Verse Writing Practice: With this you can practice parts of the whole verse, or just work on starting a single letter.  In this weeks case you’ll be working on the letter I.  (I have to give Carisa over at 1+1+1=1 a shout out because some of her writing printables gave me the concept for the I one)

You may also re-visit this verses devotional from last year.
In addition, while all verses won’t have a song that fits so well, this one does.  You can visit Seeds Family Worship and listen to Psalm 139:14 to music!  Its on The Power of Encouragement and is song number 5!

Tots in Action-My Body

Here is a preview of what you have to look forward to in the My Body Unit.

All About Me- My Body

This unit has been expanded. So, make sure and check out the additional printables here.

We are so excited to share our very first unit with you!  We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!

Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans.  Items listed under Extras are printables you can use in addition to our weekly plans.

Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time.  You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations.  Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.

Day 1:

B is for Body- Below is everything you’ll need to create the collage.

2 Dot Page & Lacing Page

Create a "My Body” Book- We found two options for you, so pick your flavor.  First choice from DLTK’s Growing Together, just print, color and staple. Second choice from I Can Teach My Child requires more work, but would be more fun to read over and over.

Day 2:

Shape Person- This is a great activity to reinforce shapes and color.

 IMG_5275

Sesame St. "Body" Playlist- You will find 6 playlists to choose from on this website.  Each playlist comes with short clips and interactive activities.

Day 3:

Memory- Images that begin with B. (Not all images are seen in picture below.)

Pattern of 2- Lay a pattern out in front of your child for them to copy it.  If this seems easy, create your own patterns and have them fill in a missing part (ie: AABB_ABB)  or extended the pattern already started (ie: AABBAAB_ _ _).

Sing Songs- My Delicious Ambiguity has compiled a variety of songs and finger plays from around the web that you can download and use with your toddler or preschooler.

Extras:

Mr. Potato Head- You can use this to talk about the different parts of the body with your tot, and where they go.

We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.

Shape Person

For our craft activity this week we created a shape person.  Then added a fun hairstyle (various styles included in template).

 Click to Download

 Materials:

  • Shape Person Template downloaded & printed (click image above)
  • construction paper (your choice of color)
  • glue
  • scissors
  • crayons
  • marker
  • optional- googly eyes

Teaching Moments:

  • As your child colors the shapes, ask him/her to name the shapes and colors.  If they don’t know them, then tell it to them.  Ask them to name the shape/color back to you.
  • After you have glued the pieces on your paper, review the parts of the body with your child and label the picture.

Suggestions:

  • Have your child color the shapes prior to cutting out.
  • While your child colors one page, cut out the shapes on the page he/she just colored.
  • Follow up or start your craft with a book.

Family Night Activity-My Body Unit

For our family night activity this week we made watermelon men!  It was a fun way to talk about the parts of the body and do something as a family.  Plus, with summer making everything so hot outside, it was a healthy no bake snack idea!

Materials:
  • A seedless watermelon
  • Gingerbread man cookie cutter/s
  • Pineapple Rings
  • Marciano Cherries
  • Mandarin Orange Slices
  • Bananas
  • Wax Paper
  • Plates
Directions:
  • Use a paring knife and scour the rind of the watermelon in 1/2 inch rings.
  • Cut the watermelon into 1/2 inch rings using the scoured lines as a guide.
  • Lay a ring of watermelon for each person on a sheet of wax paper.  This makes for a quicker and easier clean-up
  • Using your cookie cutter, cut a man out of the watermelon slice.
100_1000100_1003
  • Decorate the watermelon men with the other fruit pieces.
100_1013100_1009
  • Enjoy snacking on your cute creations!
Suggestions:
  • If you don’t have large gingerbread man cookie cutters, use the watermelon rings to make faces instead.
  • Bananas are good all purpose fruit!  You can simplify this craft and just use the bananas for the eyes, nose, and mouth of your watermelon face.
image
  • Set all of the fruit you plan on using on a paper towel before you begin decorating.  This will allow the juices to drain and your project will be a little less sticky.
  • I strongly suggest using a paring knife to scour the outer rind of the watermelon before cutting your 1/2 inch slices.  After scouring you should be able to cut rings evenly and quickly with a butcher knife.
Alternate Ideas
  • Make gingerbread or sugar cookie men and decorate them
  • Looking for a game to play?  Try doing the Hokey Pokey as a family!  Its a great way to review the parts of the body and get your kiddo moving
  • Singing body songs, like “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” is also a great family activity
Movie Idea:
  • While enjoying your snack, pull out some old family movies of your kids.  Talk about how much they’ve grown, and how they are changing!

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

The verse you will be working with your child on this week is Psalm 139:14.
image

Materials:
  • Memory Verse Card for Psalm 139:14
  • Markers is several colors
  • Stick figure drawing with a blank face
Directions:
  • Take several different color markers (like blue, brown, yellow, and green) and ask the child to give you the colors of the features they want on the person.
  • Ask, what color eyes should we give this person? What color hair? Should their hair be curly, or straight? Do you think this is a boy, or a girl?
  • Draw the features on the face, and follow the instructions of your tot. If they want blue hair, go with it!
Talk with your child about the following:
Its fun to pick what we draw on a picture, isn’t it?  Its fun to give make a drawing have silly hair, or pretty blue eyes? You didn’t get to pick what you look like, did you? Who do you think picked out what you looked like?  The answer is GOD! The Bible tells us that even before you were born God knew exactly what you’d be like. He knew what color eyes you would have, and whether your hair would be curly or straight.  He even knew who your mommy and daddy would be! Just like the person we made today, He picked everything out just for you! God knows that you are special because he made you that way! Its just like the verse we’ve been learning.   We know that we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”! We also know that what God makes, He makes wonderful! You are wonderful to me, and you are just like God wanted you to be! You are fearfully and wonderfully made!

Questions to ask:
  • Who made you?  God
  • What else did God make?  Everything
