100th Day was a huge success!
There were some things that weren’t that great…like when I wasted several, and I mean a lot of paper trying to print this "I Can Count to 100" book front to back. After the 100th time of tweaking I finally got it the way I wanted. So much for trying to save paper.
Also, our public library had slim pickings on the 100th Day book choices. I wish Amazon offered a public library option on all of its book. I’d pay for a membership to that!
Besides, those set backs I did discover that my son’s favorite thing so far this year was…Disney’s Frozen theme day!
Since my son loves theme days so much, I hope to include at least 2 a month. My son is already talking about Valentine’s Day activities.
Here is a look at what we will be doing Friday. (Click the image below to download it. Links are clickable.)
Do you have anything fun planned for this week?

Fine Motor
My Montessori Journey has wonderful valentine based activities that will help your child work on their fine motor and practical life skills.
Art
Make your very own homemade Valentines. We created our paper with a unique “painting method” last year. All it took was a little vinegar, cardstock and various shades of pink and red tissue paper.
Hope you have fun.
Here are some pictures of this unit in action! We hope they help you as you plan your week ahead!
This unit has been updated. So, make sure and get the new printables here.
Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think. We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!
Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans. (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)
Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time. You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations. Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.
Day 1
Candy Letter Match- Have your child match the capital letter to the lowercase letter to reinforce letter recognition.
Cupid Clip Cards- This activity will work on your child’s beginning counting skills, and their number recognition. The clothespin clipping also works on fine motor skills.
Sweethearts Observations- Help reinforce senses, while making observations of sweethearts.
Day 2:
Cupid Beginning Writing- For those tots that may struggle with following the lines, we have added a simpler writing activity. The 2nd activity has no lines (just a gray path), so all your child has to do is connect the cupid to his arrows, any way they can. You can use this document over and over again if you laminate it and then have you child write with dry erase markers. (Black dry erase wipes off easier than color ones.)
Valentine Candy Number Maze-This activity will help your child practice counting whole numbers 1-20 and 1-10 in order by 1s. (2 pages included in download.)
Day 3:
Valentine Spelling- This activity will help your child begin to recognize that when letters are combined they form words.
Roll and Cover Sweethearts-This activity will help your child begin to read and count whole numbers. You can use counting cards or a dice. (4Shared distorted the image, so please ignore.)
Sweethearts Graphing – This activity will introduce your child to data collection and interpretation. Once you’ve completed the graph, make sure to ask simple questions. Such as, “Which color had the most (tallest bar)? Which color had the least (shortest)? How many (color) hearts did we have in our box?” Make sure to show them how to use the graph, instead of just counting the hearts.
We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.
