Are you looking for a meaningful way to share the Easter message with your kiddo? Do you need help teaching your child about a the crucifixion and resurrection?
If you answer yes to any of those questions then I am so excited to introduce you to a new book from my friend Amanda. I got to know Amanda while participating in Operation Christmas ChildShoebox Blitz in New York City. Amanda has an amazing way of sharing the word of God with kids. Seriously, if don’t already you need to follow her blog, Oh Amanda.
12 activities to do prior to Easter. Each activity includes:
sense(s) you’ll use
scripture
an activity
the talk
and more (optional printable flag).
So, that breaks down to about 3 activities a week if you start now!
My Thoughts
I’m really excited to dig into this resource. Not only are the activities simple, but I love the idea of using our senses to learn about the death and resurrection of Christ. I’ll keep you posted as we use it.

My Jesus Journal is designed to guide your family into a richer understanding of who we are, what Jesus did for us, and how we are to live in light of the truths of the Gospel.
Even though My Jesus Journal wasn’t specifically created for Easter, my family is planning to use the tips they provided throughout the book to use it now during the Lent and Easter season.
What You Do:
As a family- you’ll build a mustard tree, with the resources provided, to record the ways you are seeing God work in your lives.
Each kiddo – will learn about Jesus and learn to know Him through individual activities in their very own My Jesus Journal.
What It includes:
Instructions to make and use your Mustard Tree
Family Activity List (use to fill in your Mustard Tree)
Instructions for each child to make their own My Jesus Journal
Activities for My Jesus Journal, broken down into 3 sections (Who Am I? Who is Jesus? How do we live because of Jesus?)
Remembering the Cross Family Activity
Additional Family Activities
Online Access to videos and additional resources
When To Use It:
It can be used anytime your family wants to spend time learning more about Christ and who He is.
You could also use it if your children have questions about Jesus, or when they make the decision to follow Christ.
And as I mentioned above it provides a sample schedule of how you can use it the weeks leading up to Easter.
I’m know my son is going to love making his own My Jesus Journal and completing the activities it provides. Although, he may be a little young for some.
I love the online videos they provided and I know it will be a great resource to help illustrate and reinforce the lesson of the day.
And lastly, I love that everything is provided for me, making it easy for me to just enjoy being together as a family learning about Jesus.
We are really looking forward into digging into this resource, especially since our son has been asking a lot of questions about Jesus. I’ll let you all know how it goes and my final thoughts when we finish it.

Last year we posted about the 12 Days of Easter. We used our Resurrection Eggs and made 12 lessons to correspond with each of the eggs to help teach our kiddos about the meaning of Easter.
We thought it might be nice to get the 12 Days of Easter unit in your hands early so if you want to go through it with your kids, you will have it to plan.
We went ahead and put it all in a single download! Here is what you’ll find in this download:
12 Days of Easter Plans-You can print them off front and back to save paper, that is why they are in the order they are! Print them off and cut the pages in half and you will have a handy guide for your lessons!

Wondering if this series is for you? Check out this post to help you with your decision!
If you are in need of a good Children’s Bible for this series, here are the ones that we recommend and use. (Note: You will need Vol 1 & 2 of the Read and Share Bible)
Talk with your child about the story: Finally the best part of the Easter story! Today is the day we’ve been waiting for! We’ve have come to our final egg. Let’s look inside. What did you find? Nothing! Do remember what was empty in our story? Jesus’ tomb. Do you know what happened to him? Jesus rose from the dead. He kept his promise.
Additional Activities:
I came across a great recipe for Resurrection Rolls on Women Living Well last year. Not only does it provide a visual, but they taste pretty good as well! We will definitely be doing this again this year.
Don’t Have Resurrection Eggs?
Here are a couple of places where you can get printable resources to use instead of resurrection eggs:
You’ll use this lesson 1 day before Easter. You’ll be using the tenth resurrection egg, which is blue (color may vary) and will have a small rock on the inside.
Talk with your child about the story: Let’s open our egg and see what’s inside. Do you know what that is? It is a rock. Why do you think that is in our egg today? Let’s think back to our story today. At the very end of our story Jesus’ friends laid him in a tomb. They loved Jesus and they wanted to keep His body from being hurt anymore. Do you remember what some of the soldiers pushed in front of the tomb? That’s right, they pushed a big rock in front of the tomb so that no one could get in or out. They were very sad, but they would soon find out that Jesus had a big surprise for them!
