Bee Center Ideas

So, this week is all about BEES. I’ve found some fabulous resources that can be used in independent centers and hopefully keep your little bees busy.

Art

I found a fun bee craft at Teach Preschool.  Just cut all the shapes needed and provide your kiddo with an example.  Then let them create their very own bubble bee.

Games

Check out this File Folder Game from File Folder Fun. In this activity your kiddo will work on color recognition as they match the bees to the correct flower.

Pretend Play

Sensory bins are a great way to keep kiddos entertain for long periods of time.  Here’s a great example I found while searching the world wide web.  Just follow the link below to get a closer look at what’s inside.

Counting and Color Puzzles

This week we are expanding our bee unit!

Our year is winding down.  If you are anything like us you are more than ready for summer!  E is no different!  As our school year comes to an end and we get ready for (gasp!) kindergarten, we are doing some review and I am wanting printables to help with that review.

Last week while looking for ideas I came across these really cool number puzzles that I thought would do the trick.  My wheels started turning and I thought “I can make those!”.

So I did! Print these puzzles off on some cardstock, laminate them, and then let your kiddo have some fun.  These would make a great resource to go with Busy Bees 123, which is free on your Kindle for Prime members!

To review colors you can use these puzzles, and these will work really well with a kiddo moving up from tot school to preschool.

I hope that these help you out, even if you wait until next year to use them!

Bee Crafty!

My hubby is so rubbing off on me because I have become far too punny for my own good….moving on.

So we haven’t crafted in this house for a while, but when we got out the glue and construction paper today there was an audible gasp of glee from my little E.  We made this little bee family:

P1070810

Here is what you’ll need:

  • Construction Paper (we used yellow, blue, and black)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes (we got ours from Dollar Tree)

The Process:

1.  Cut out your pieces from the construction paper.  We made three bees, so I cut out 6 wings, 9 stripes, and 6 antenna from the black paper.  I made 3 bee bodies and 3 bee heads of varying sizes from the yellow paper.  You could make stingers too, but we didn’t.

2.  Group your bee parts together for your kiddo and let them start placing one bee at a time on the paper, gluing them as they go.

3. Finish off your bees with some googly eyes!

Simple, eh?  You can certianly get more elaborate, or try one of these craft ideas:
