You’ll use this lesson 2 days before Easter. You’ll be using the tenth resurrection egg, which is light blue (color may vary) and will have a piece of cloth on the inside.
Before you do the lesson we recommend that you read a short segment about the burial of Christ. We will be using The Beginner’s Bible
(pg. 453), The Jesus Storybook Bible or Read and Share: The Ultimate DVD Bible - Volume 2
Talk with your child about the story:
Let’s open our egg and see what’s inside. Do you know what that is? It is a piece of cloth. Why do you think that is in our egg today? Well, in our story today we learned that a man named Joseph wrapped Jesus’ body in a linen cloth after he died. Then he placed Jesus in his own tomb. Do you remember what they put in front of tomb? That’s right. They rolled a big stone to block the entrance. All of Jesus’ followers were sad and confused. They never thought this would happen to Jesus, but they were in for a big surprise.
Additional Activities:
Resurrection Garden- Love this idea from Impress Your Kids. Create the tomb and garden where Jesus was buried with your kiddo after today’s lesson. Then before your kiddo wakes up Easter morning replace any dead plants with flowers. Make sure to read the post for the how-to.
