VLOG: How to use Which Is Different Pages

So, this printable seems pretty straight forward, but all the same I guess it helps sometime to see how other people use it!  Here is E helping me show you how we use our Which Is Different? worksheets from our units.

I used our Crayola Dry-Erase Activity Center (which is only $14 shipped for Amazon Prime members!!) for this activity.  I really cannot tell you how much time and money we saved by getting this for our printables.  It works so well not to have to laminate everything.  Think about getting one if you haven’t already!

A Look into the Roll & Graph

Today we are continuing our VLOG printable series with the Roll & Graph.  This activity is designed to introduce your child to data collection and interpretation. I ended up creating 2 videos Roll & Graph ~ Set Up and In Action.

Setting it Up

I will briefly touch on setting up our spinner for the Spin & Graph at the end of the video, so don’t miss it.

As, I mentioned in the video we use photo cubes, which I ordered through Amazon. Here are the all of supplies we may use when doing this activity.

In Action

A couple of things to remember:

  • Get kids moving by throwing the die down the hallway or down stairs.
  • Make sure you bars are different colors for easier reading.
  • Once you’ve completed the graph (first item to # of choice), make sure to ask simple questions.
    • Which color is taller? What item is that?
    • Which color is shorter? Which item is that?
    • How many times did we give the (item) a sticker?
  • Make sure to show them how to use the graph, instead of just counting the stickers.

Hope this helps when graphing!

VLOG: How to use Find the Letter Games

In some of our units we feature a game that works on letter recognition and letter sounds.  In this VLOG we show you how to play using “Smack The Spider” but the game is also used in our Monster, Football, and Basketball units (just to name a few!)

You can use several things with this game, like a fly swatter, a butterfly net, or even play with just your hand!  This is a great game to use for kiddos who have lots of energy to burn, or something to pull out on a rainy day! Hope you enjoy it!

Today we are continuing our VLOG printable series with the Number Order Puzzle.

Feed subscribes, if you can’t see the video just head to the post.

I found even more creative ways on using Number Order Puzzles while searching the web.  Make sure and check these ideas out if your kiddo gets frustrated with the pieces not staying put.

Popsicle Stick Puzzles from Kirsti Koo

Velcro Strip Puzzles from Homeschool Creations

Hope this helps spark some new ways to use these puzzles.  Do you use the puzzles in another way?  Leave a comment and share it with all of us.

The Spelling Page {How To}

Today we are continuing our VLOG printable series with the Spelling Page.  So, here it is in action.

Feed subscribes, if you can’t see the video just follow this link to the post.

Special Note: At the end of the video, I asked my son “what it spelled” because he already knew the answer.  The first time we did it I had him spell out the word and then I said, “…that spells groundhog.”

As, I mentioned in the video we use spelling tiles.  I actually picked our set up at Wal-Mart, several years ago.  I love this set because it comes with capital and lowercase letters. However, your Scrabble or Bananagram tiles would work perfectly as well. Here are some other games you might have in your closets that may work:

If all else fails, print the page twice and cut out the letters from one of the pages.

Have fun spelling!

The Counting Mat

Today we are continuing our VLOG printable series with the Counting Mat.  I don’t think I need to do too much to explain the counting mat.  It is pretty self explanatory. Needless to say, here it is in action.  (You might recognize this video from our Facebook page.)

Feed subscribes, if you can’t see the video just follow this link to the post.

To use our counting mats you’ll need number cards.  We’ve made a printable that includes 3 sets- just numbers 1-10, just dots 1-10 and combined number with dots.

Have fun counting!

How to VLOG: Counting Clip Cards

We’ve been thinking for a while about a VLOG series on how to use the various printables in our units.

NOW ITS HERE!!

Each Monday we will be uploading a How To VLOG focusing on one of our activities and how we use it.  This week we are featuring our Counting Clip Cards from our Winter Fun Unit.

Be sure to come back next week when we’ll feature another how to with one of our unit printables!
