Baseball Center Ideas

This week we are expanding our “Baseball” Theme printables.

To get you started, I’ve found some fabulous resources that can be used in independent centers and I even created more magnet pages for you.

Games

Here’s another File Folder Game. In this activity your kiddo will work on color recognition as they match the baseball hats to the correct jersey.

I found this fun sport set on Amazon that scored rave reviews.  Not only would this keep your baseball fan entertained, but Daddy too! This set comes with 2 Teams, 26 players, 1 umpire, 1 adjustable scoreboard and a washable felt field measures 28" X 28".

Magnet Pages

Since we haven’t done magnet pages in awhile, I decided to go ahead and make some more for you.

Baseball Magnet Pages   G is for Glove
Click to Download 4 magnet pages.

You can use several different things with your magnet pages. Do-a-Dot Paints work great, but then you’ll only get one use out of them.  I recommend laminating the pages and using Bingo Chips, Power Magnets or homemade pom-pom magnets with them.

Hope you’re a “fan” of these ideas.

Baseball!

Here is what we’ve been doing this week. Let us know what you think.  We hope by providing these materials to you free of charge, it will make your life easier!

Lesson Plan: The lesson plan includes all the lessons for the week, as well as optional ideas. Items following the lesson plan are just the printables or links to websites we used to teach these plans.  (Please note: On top of our lesson plan we are reading books daily that relate to our theme.)

Memory Verse: This memory card is for daily use during our calendar time.  You can learn more about calendar time at 1+1+1=1 or Homeschool Creations.  Our weekly devotional is an object lesson that will help your child apply the meaning of the verse to them.

Day 1:
Baseball Pre-Write- (Can also be used for cutting practice.)You can use this document over and over again if you laminate it and then have you child write with dry erase markers. (Black dry erase wipes off easier than color ones.)

Baseball Clip Cards-  This activity will help your child practice counting whole numbers 1-10 and recognizing those numbers by sight.

Baseball Lacing Card-  Use this baseball lacing card to  help your child with fine motor skills.

Day 2:
Baseball Letter Clip Card- Assesses either letter recognition or letter sounds.

Baseball Dice Game- Teaches your child counting and number recognition.  You can use the 1-2-3 dice to prolong the game.

Baseball Color Match- Helps your child recognize and match colors.

Day 3:
Baseball Magnet Page- Use this baseball magnet page to help teach your child how letters are linked to sounds to form letter-sound correspondence.

Baseball Size Sort- This activity can be varied depending on your child’s skill level.  For example you can sort into 2 or 3 piles (Big & Small or Big, Medium & Small).

Pennant Craft- Download and print this blank pennant template and let your child decorate their own pennant.

We hope you enjoy these lesson plans and please let us know if you have any issues with downloading or using the items provided.

Baseball Picture Frame!

This week we are doing a unit on baseball!  You can make this cute baseball picture frame with your kiddo to fit into the baseball theme!

image

You can print out the template and make the picture frame with a picture of your kiddo.  If you’d like you can put a magnet on the back and hang it on your fridge.  This would also be great for all your kiddos t-ball pictures!

Hope you have a great time crafting with your kiddos!

Returning Home

This week our theme is Baseball!  Our verse comes from 2nd Corinthians 5:1.

image

“But we have a building made by God.  It is a home in Heaven that lasts forever.”

Materials:

  • The Memory Verse Card
  • A Home Plate base.  If you don’t have one lying around (I’d imagine some of you don’t) you can make one out of paper.

Directions:

  • Say the verse above with your tot.  We suggest that you print the verse off and use it every morning with your calendar time.  If you don’t do calendar time still say the verse each morning with your tot before you begin tot school.
  • Follow the cues given in this devotional.

Talk with your child about the following:
This week we have been learning all about baseball!  We know a little bit more about baseball, huh?  What do you do when you hit the ball with the bat?  You run around the bases, right?  Do you remember what base you’re trying to get to!  That’s right, you’re trying to get to home plate, just like this one!  Getting to the home plate is the whole point of the game!

You know, we use the word home to talk about where we live, too.  Really home is a word that talks about where you come from.  You have a home here with mommy and daddy,  don’t you?  Our home is on a planet called Earth, and it isn’t like a home plate in baseball, but its where we live right now.  Our verse today talks about a different type of home for us, though.

In this verse Jesus talks about a home for us in Heaven with God.  When Jesus was here on Earth He wasn’t at His home.  Jesus left His home with God in Heaven to visit us here on Earth for a little bit.  He left Heaven because He loved us very much, and He wanted to tell us more about God, and the home God has made for each of us in Heaven.

Just the like in baseball we try to get back to the home plate, while we are here on Earth we are trying to get back to our real home in Heaven.  In our verse today, Paul tells us that we have a home in Heaven.  One day, God will take us to His home, where we can be with Him all the time.  Until that day though, Jesus wants us to love others and to tell everyone we can about God and His love for us, and the home he has for us in Heaven.  Will you pray with me and thank God for the home He has made for us?

Dear God, thank you so much for sending you son, Jesus, to our home here on Earth.  We know He came to tell us how much you love us, and to teach us how we can be with you in your home, Heaven, for ever and ever.  Help us to tell others about your love for us and our home in Heaven!
