Get to know Amber

I left the classroom two years ago to be a stay home mommy to my daughter, E.  Its a decision that I have never regretted, as I much prefer Sesame Street to Shakespeare.  

In my life before motherhood I taught English to high school students.  I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English Composition and Rhetoric and a Master’s Degree in Education.  Both of my degrees come from the University of Louisville, and I am a devoted fan of my beloved Cardinals! 

My husband, Jeff, and I knew from the very beginning that I was going to try and stay home full time with our children.  It has been the desire of my heart to be home full time, and God has blessed us with the resources and opportunity.  After trying my hand at free lance writing for a season I launched my own blog, The Belly of the Whale, to share devotional writings for mommies and our adventures in the world of Tot School. 

Our family is committed to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and we pray our lives are a testament to his grace and salvation.  Its our hope, and prayer, that one day our daughter will come to know Him as Savior, also.

Get to Know Madonna

I am a tenured teacher who said goodbye to the classroom and hello to being a stay-home mom to my sons.
  
Prior to staying home, I taught 3rd grade science and social studies.  I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Teledramatic Arts and Technology (fancy name for film and theater) with a focus in children’s theater.   I also earned a Master’s of Art in Teaching in Early Elementary Education.

Although, I returned to teaching after my first son’s birth for a year and a half, my husband and I felt the best place for me was at home with our boys.   God has blessed us with the ability to make this desire possible.  

So, now my days are filled with silly songs, homeschool activities and all the other various mommy tasks.  In hopes to connect and collaborate with other stay home moms, as well as getting my “teaching fix” I began my blog A Mommy Talks.

My most important connection though is to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It was through His sacrifice that I am saved and for that I am truly thankful.  I continue to strive to know Him better every day and I hope, along with my husband, to impress His love and truth on to our sons.
